What Are Your Plans For This Weekend If Any ?

So what is everyone doing this weekend ? Do you normally celebrate the 4th and get out of town or do you normally stay home ? Has the high cost of fuel made you change your plans ?

I normally don't do anything, and have always had to work.. I have had the past 3 days off so tonight if it doesn't rain I will sit on my back porch and watch the fireworks display.. This is something that I always have liked to do, even when I worked the night shift we would go outside and watch the fire works.. Of course things have changed with me since 9/11 and I always manage to well up, ALWAYS ! I just get very emotional..

Even as a child we never went anywhere, it was a holiday weekend and we just stayed home, had a bar-b-que and shot off fireworks once the sun went down.. That was before it was illegal to shoot them off in the state of California :)

I remember this past Memorial weekend and how everyone was saying that the gas prices wouldn't bother peop...

"Before You Go"

                   ~BACKGROUND TO WRITING THE SONG~

The elderly parking lot attendant wasn't in a good mood!

Neither was Sam Bierstock. It was around 1 a.m., and
Bierstock, aDelray Beach , Fla. , eye doctor, business consultant, corporate speaker and musician, was bone tired after appearing at an event.

He pulled up in his car, and the parking attendant began to speak. "I took two bullets for this country and look what I'm doing," he said bitterly.

At first, Bierstock didn't know what to say to the World War II veteran. But he rolled down his window and told the man, "Really, from the bottom of my heart, I want to thank you."

Then the old soldier began to cry.

"That really got to me," Bierstock says.

Cut to today.

Bierstock, 58, and John Melnick, 54, of Pompano

Beach - a member of Bierstock's band, Dr. Sam and

the Managed Care Band - have written a song inspired

by that old soldier in the airport parking lot. The

mournful "Before You Go" doe...

An Easy Enough Mistake

A man and a woman were having dinner in a fine restaurant. Their waitress, taking another order at a table a few paces away noticed that the man was slowly sliding down his chair and under the table, with the woman acting unconcerned.

The waitress watched as the man slid all the way down his chair and out of sight under the table. Still, the woman dining across from him appeared calm and unruffled, apparently unaware that her dining companion had disappeared.

After the waitress finished taking the order, she came over to the table and said to the woman, 'Pardon me, ma'am, but I think your husband just slid under the table.'

The woman calmly looked up at her and replied firmly, 'No he didn't. He just walked in the door.'

Got The Call

I got the call this past Tuesday from the Sheriff's Dept that my background check came back clean (had no worries, and knew it would).. SOOOOO since I don't even have to work a half day today I will get my photo ID this afternoon for Conceal Carry... NOW I'm excited :) My friend went down and got his and he said it was $11.50 for his ID, so that means all in all I paid $211.50 to be able to carry a concealed weapon :) Not bad I think

Man I'm glad its over :) Seemed like forever, but I finally got my certificate for my CCW permit.. The reason it took so long was because we only had an outdoor shooting range to use, no indoor shooting range around here.. Seems like someone would have already thought of that, but oh well.. Another reason it took so long was the weather has been ungodly here, we have had severe thunderstorms it least 3 days out of every week for the last few months.. Good god we had tornados last weekend.. It had rained over night and into this morning, it was a little muddy but we weathered it quite well if I say so myself..

I qualified and got my certificate and all that is left is taking it, the receipt and $100 cash to the Sheriffs office next week so they can start the background check.. That I was told will take 45 days.. Then once that is done and everything is good to go, I have to take whatever they give me to license office and pay them $...

It is the three pairs of eyes that mothers have to have."
"That's the standard model," the angel asked?
The Lord nodded. "One pair that sees through closed doors, when she asks, "What are you kids doing in there, " when she already knows. Another in the back of her head that sees what she shouldn't but what she has to know, and of course ...

Michelle Obama.. Your next First Lady ?

According to Snopes HERE, until just recently, this document was restricted to public access and labeled ‘temporarily unavailable’ by Princeton in an effort to keep it out of the public arena until after the election in November, 2008.

......Your next First Lady?

In her senior thesis at Princeton, Michele Obama, the wife of Barack Obama stated that America was a nation founded on "crime and hatred".
Only In America

Let's say I break into your house..

A lady wrote the best letter in the Editorials in ages!!! It explains things better than all the baloney you hear on TV.

Her point:

Recently large demonstrations have taken place across the country protesting the fact that Congress is finally addressing the issue of illegal immigration.

Certain people are angry that the US might protect its own borders, might make it harder to sneak into this country and, once here, to stay indefinitely. Let me see if I correctly understand the thinking behind these protests. Let's say I break into your house. Let's say that when you discover me in your house, you insist that I leave. But I say, 'No! I like it here. It's better than my house. I've made all the beds and washed the dishes and did the laundry and swept the floors. I've done all the things you don't like to do. I'm hard-working and honest (except for when I broke into your house).

According to the protester...

History Of Beer

For those of you who slept through World History 101 here is a condensed version.

Humans originally existed as members of small bands of nomadic hunters/gatherers.

They lived on deer in the mountains during the summer
and would go to the coast and live on fish and lobster in the winter.

The two most important events in all of history were:
1. The invention of beer, and
2. The invention of the wheel.

The wheel was invented to get man to the beer, and the beer to the man.
These facts formed the foundation of modern civilization and together were
the catalyst for the splitting of humanity into two distinct subgroups:

1. Liberals (Democrats as they are known today)
2. Conservatives. (Republicans)

Once beer was discovered, it required grain and that was the beginning of
agriculture.

Neither the glass bottle nor aluminum can were invented yet, so while our
early humans were sitting around waiting for them to be invented, they just
stayed close to the brewery.

That's how villages were formed.

Some men sp...

Well it's moving along, LOL. I sat through all those video's and even had a test at the end. I did just fine, and passed the test 100%.. Since it has been raining everyday for two weeks, where we were going to shoot is in bad shape since this is an outdoor shooting range. So it has been postponed until the rain quits :) This will be no problem since he will have it on one of my days off. And he said under the circumstances since I don't have weekends off, he will let me do it on a private basis if needs be.

Just gotta wait for the rain to quit and it won't until this weekend.

I found this quite amusing in my morning reading material.. I work in retail and I have come to the conclusion that there are quite a few people that STILL don't believe in soap & water, shanpoo and deodrant..
Time

I've read where time is the real commodity of 00's.. The old saying " I've got the time, if you've got the money ", may be losing all relationship to the real world..

Of course the fact that only a couple of generations ago people worked twelve or more hours a day just to get by often gets forgotten.. With 90% of the population living in rural areas back then, most of the time was spent just trying to keep food on the table..

I suppose the main difference between now and then is people back then didn't have a choice.. The fact is, anyone wanting to live, as the pioneers did, in a home without running water or electricity, washing clothes in a tub, without phones, televisions, or computers, they wouldn't probably have lots of time..

Time isn't a commodity, it's a given.. The choices come in how we spend it..

Global Warming

I don't know about the rest of you out there, but here in Southwest Missouri we are still in Winter's grip and it doesn't look like it is going away anytime soon.. More freezing rain/sleet/snow starting tonight into Friday afternoon.. SURE could use some of that global warming the libs are always talking about :) Funny though you never hear ANY talk about it when the country is in the grips of winter, ha ha ha ha... AND I thought this was a crisis
